The Otaki Maori Racing Club's Winter Meeting was opened to-day in fine weather, the attendance being large. The sum of £10,437 was passed through the totalisator, as against £11,789 last year, and 20 bookmakers were licensed. The following are the results of the racing:-— FLYING HACK HANDlCAP.—Rangipapa. B<>t lllb. 1; Lochiela. 7st 31b. 2; Yosami. 7st 111b, 3. Scratched: flit-Frisco. King Post finished third, but could not draw the weight, and Yosami received third money. Rangipapa won by a length and a-half. Time, lm. 16 2-53. HACK HURDLE Whatakura, 9st Sib. 1 ; Cvrus, 9st, 2; St. Amelia, lOst lib. 3. Scratched : Speciosa and Snip. Mount. Kurawaka and Wailethe cut out the running for -a mile, where the former lost. his position, and Seaman joined Wailethe. In the Epsom Handicap 130 horses are engaged, and in the Metropolitan Stakes 128 figure in the list. The New Zealand nominations include Waipuna. Soulcline, Frisco, Nobel, Cross Battery. Tamainupo, Apa, Golden Slipper, Idyll, Ringdove, Sea King, and Rose Noble. For the Caultield Cup 191 horses figure on the list, and for the Melbourne Cup 193 are nominated. There are 74 entries for the Grand National Hurdle Race and 52 for the Giand National Steeplechase. The entry of Kiotere for the Grand National Steeplechase and Australian Steeplechase, telegraphed from Auckland, was received too late to allow of the New Zealand horse being included in the list for those races.
