New regulations under the Law Practitioners Act are gazetted.

The. Auckland police are desirous of discovering the owner of a gentleman's bicycle, which was found in Queen-street a few days ago. ;..■■.

There were lour males occupying the police cells last evening, three being locked up for drunkenness and one for indecency.

It, was stated at a. meeting of the Wellington College Governors that 151 out of the" 309 boys 1 attending Wellington College were free pupils.

The president of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce said the' other night that it had now over 200 members, and this number it was hoped to double by the end of the vear.

" The curator tit the fish ponds at Hawera is now proceeding with the work of stripping fish, and all the fish in the ponds appear to be in first-class condition. The, ova taken.is strong and abundant.

The North Otago Times states that a farmer in the Oamaru district planted a-dry lagoon of large size with potatoes this season, from which he dug 17 tons to the acre. These he sold at £4 a ton, or at the rate of £68 an aero.
