NORTH NEW ZEALAND COURSING CLUB. The North New Zealand Coursing Club will Inaugurate the season at Middlemore Park, Otahuhu, on May 20 and 27, when the Challenge and Maiden Stakes will be decided. The final payment and draw in connection with these stakes will be made at the Federal Hall on Monday,

May 18, at nine pan. The club has received a supply of hares from the South and a successful season is anticipated. MEETING AT PALMERSTON NORTH. [BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Palmerston North, Thursday. The most successful coursing meeting ever held in Palmerstpn North was concluded yesterday in showery weather. Good strong hares were available and kills were infrequent.. The final of the Maiden Stake was won by Mr. G. Biillecl's Respite, which beat Mr. T. Henne.y's Gold Greet by six points to three after a keen course, in which the hare escaped. The Una! of tin- open sweepstake was won by Mr. F. X. Dane's Marquis, which defeated Moss Rose by seven points to four. ■
