CLERG MEN'S RESIGNATIONS.
VACANCIES IN CHARGES. At last evening's meeting of the Auckland Presbytery the- resignations of (wo ministers and one home, missionary were considered. The Rev. 11. H. Catlierwood, of St. Peter's Church, Great North Road, relinquished his ministerial duties on account of ill-health, and has accepted an appointment with the Y.M.C.A. The Rev. T. A. Norrie tendered his resignation of the Pokeno Presbyterian Church, on account of ill-health. The third case was that of Air. G. H. Wausbone, a, home missionary, who has been stationed in the Northern Wairoa for the last five years, and is greatly esteemed there. Some time ago Mr. Wansbone asked lite Presbytery to raise him to (lie status of a minister, but; the Presbytery had not the power to accede to the request. Mr. Wansbone subsequently resigned. Mr. Wansbone's case was the first considered.- Mr. Wansbone had been asked by a largely-signed petition of, church members in the Northern Wairoa district to withdraw his resignation. A letter was read from Mr. Wansbone, stating that he was compelled, in the circumstances, to hand in his resignation, and asking that it be not discussed. Befire ho left he would do everything possible, to assist, the successor appointed to fill his place. The matter was discussed in committee, and eventually the Presbytery passed the following resolution: "That the petition be transmitted to the. General Assembly, with the recommendation that in view of the special and urgent circumstances of the case it receive the most favourable consideration. That meanwhile Mr. Wansbone's resignation lie on the table until the meeting of the General Assembly, and that he be given two months' leave of absence to consider tho question of returning to the Northern Wairoa." The resignation of the llev.- v Oatherwood wan accepted with regret, and the Presbytery's appreciation 61 the retiring minister's services to the Church were placed on record. The Rev. Macau lay Caldwell was appointed moderator of the call. With regard to Mr. Nome's resignation a commission of the Presbytery was appointed! to, visit Pokeuo.
