ONEHUNGA ASSESSMENT COURT.
The fourth and concluding day's sitting of the Onehunga Assessment Court was held at the Courthouse, Onehunga, yesterday when Mr. 11. W. Northcroft, S.M., presided. Mr. Joseph Gilmore appeared in support of his adjustments, while Mr. H. A. Yocknev, town clerk, represented the Council. Several objections were disposed of by mutual agreement, while the following were heard by the Court:—Captain Burgess, allotment 9, section 33, £30, sustained; Philip Lynds, part of section 30, £39, reduced to £37; Mrs. Rosetta Watts, part 1 and 2 of allotment 11, section 3. £26, reduced to £20; Masonic Hall, part allotment 10, section 17, £26, increased to £30. Mr. Joseph Gilmore, the valuer, assessed the total ratable value of property in the borough at £30,193, as against £24,000 at the previous«triennial valuation. The latest valuation called forth 124 objections, the greatest number on record in the district. The objections when disposed of secured reductions totalling £1195, while increases amounting to £58 were made, thus leaving net reductions of £1137. The total ratable value is now £28,993, which is in excess of the £28,000 on which the Mayor (Mr. John Rowe) based his estimates for 'the incoming year.
