AQUATICS.
AUCKLAND ROWING CLUB. The Auckland Rowing Club held stump trials in the harbour on Saturday afternoon for a valuable trophy presenile! by Mr. S. Nathan. The course was' from cfT Mechanics' Bay, finishing off Ifobson-street Wharf. Mr. R. Young acted as starter and Mr. It. Cleal as judge. The water was a little choppy, but being flood tide it. was favourable to the "rowers. The race was rowed off in four heats, the winners being: First heat, Grierson: second beat. Aimer; third heat. Walker; fourth beat, Farrow. The semi-final resulted in a win for Walker, but this rower was beaten in the final by Aimer, who bad a bye in the semi-final. The finishes in each case were very close. MOTOR LAUNCH RACE. Hie Devonport Yacht Club held a motor launch race to Matiatia on Saturday last, the entries and handicaps being: The Shadow, scratch Floral, 24m. : Gloria. 24m.; Snow-flake, 58m. The Snowllake did not- start and The Shadow did not finish, leaving the race, tii- be fought out byFloral and Gloria. The "go" between the remaining boats was a. very close one, Floral just winning by Bs.
