FIRES.
FIRE IN* PONS ON BY ROAD, At 6.30 yesterday evening, the smokehouse at the rear of Messrs. Harrison and Smith's pork butchers shop, in P"tisonby Road, near the Three Lamps, was seen to be on fire. The brigade were called out and soon suppressed the fire, th« damage only amounting to about £10. OUTBREAK IN SHORTLAND-STREET. The Fire Brigade received a call to a fixe in Short! and • street yesterday morning. shortly after 8.30, but fortunately it had only obtained a slight hold, and was quickly extingiushed, the principal daanag# being done by water. FALSE ALARM. The brigade received a call frou Alt«n Road alarm about eight o'clock last evening, and immediately hurried to the spot, but no tire was to he seen in the vicinity.
