MEETINGS.

MANUKAU METHODIST CIRCUIT. At the quarterly meeting of the Mamvkau Methodist Circuit at Woodside members were present from all the places in the circuit. The balance-sheet showed an income of £133 16s 7d, and an expenditure of £104 Is 7d, leaving a satisfactory credit balance of £29 15s. Arrangements were made for a second agent (who is expected shortly) to reside in Otahuhu. A brief report of the recent conference held in Auckland was presented by the circuit representative, Mr. J. H. Douglass. Regret was expressed at the early departure of the Rev. R. Taylor to Df vonport, and a hearty vote of' thanks was passed to him. Mr. E. C. Somervill*, who for some years has rendered valuable service to the Church as a local preacher, has been ' appointed home missionary at Patea, and hearty thanks were accorded to him for past services. The Rev. J. S. Gibson, the newlyappointed superintendent is expected in Onehunga on the 17th inst. At the conclusion of the meeting the members sat down to tea provided by Mrs. G. D. Smith, of Manurewa. DEYONPORT LIBERAL AND LABOUR FEDERATION. A meeting in committee of the Devonport branch of tiro Libera! and Labour Federation was held in the Foresters' Hall la&fc night, Mr. 8. Reed presiding over a good attendance. Eighteen new members were elected. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr. S. Reed; vice-president. Mr. Considine; secretary, Mr. G. Mitchell; treasurer, Mr. J. Veate; committee, Messrs. Smith, Dunniugham, lAnsoombe, Parsons. Deary, Napier, Campbell, F. M. King, .Taeksou, Leahy, and Mrs. Kessel; auditor, Mr. Dunniugham. On the motion of Mr; W. ,1. Napier, a vote of thanks was accorded the retiring president (Mr. W. U. Timewell) and secretary (Mr. E. J. Osborne). ONEHUNGA LITERARY SOCIETY. At a commit too meeting of the Onehunga Literary and Debating Society, presided over by Captain R. Richardson, it was decided to open the season on Thursday, May 7 and to meet every alternate Thursday. On the motion of Mr. G. L. Taylor, it was resolved to ask the Revs. P. S/Srnallfield and D. D. Scott, and also Mr. J. H. Simpson, to deliver lectures during the session. ONEHUNGA LIBERAL AND LABOUR FEDERATION. The monthly meeting of the Onehunga branch of the Liberal and Labour Federation took place at the Foresters' Hall, last evening, when Mr. E. G. Alkworth, president, was in the chair. The secretary submitted the accounts in connection with the late demonstration at Papakura, and picnic at One-tree Hill Domain, totalling £39, and these were passed for payment. Votes of thanks for their co-operation were passed to the Hunua, Papakura, and Clevedon branches, also to the sports committee. # On the motion of the president, it was decided to forward a resolution of sympathy to Mr. Chas. Bagley, in connection*- with his severe illness.
