AUCKLAND WEEKLY NEWS.
TENTH PHOTOGRAPHIC COM-
PETITION.
THE RESULTS.
Good entries were received in all classes for the Aecklakd Weekly News tenth photographic prize competition, which closed on March 31, and the quality of the work submitted was above the average of that received for previous competitions'. Whilst leading competitors of former years were well represented by excellent examples in the various classes, a large amount of really good work was received from other sources, and several new names figure on the prize list in consequence. The list includes names from the Far North of New Zealand to the Bluff, and with such a fine field the competition in all classes is naturally keen. The general-collection class attracted a tine lot of entries, the number of subjects included under this head being exceedingly varied, and the prints submitted all round being distinctly good. This class affords scope for photography in all its branches, from artistic landscape and figure studies to the snapshot work so necessary in journalistic photography. The range of subjects in New Zealand is exceedingly wide, and it is pleasing to note each vear the increasing attention that this class is attracting. In addition to the prize-winners, highly creditable entries were received from the following competitors :—J. H. Patrick, Harry Bennett, E. Gilling, S. V. Gibson, W. 1. Shanly, Mrs. M. Wall, L.
