HOT LAKES FISHING.

A RECORD TROUT.

There lias been a bit of a lull among anglers during the past; week or so, due, probably, to the. uncertainty of the -weather, but those who have been out on the lakes have been fairly well rewarded (says the Hot Lakes Chronicle of yesterday). Angling in Lake Rotorua, Mr. Maxwell and party caught 22 nice trout, averaging quite 31b. Air. Calwey- was also successful, having secured 16 nice fish while on. the lake for a few hours. Mr. lies and party placed 17 trout in their, basket as the result of a.few hours' angling in Lake Rotorua, the aggregate weight of which was 59£1b.: Messrs. I Smith,-Duff, and Buckthought were even ! more successful, having landed 23 fish ot an average weight of 3ilb. .'.' These were also caught in Lake Rotorua. Dr. and Mrs. Murphy, trolling in Lake Rotorua, placed 10 fish in their basket, aggregating 301b. Mr. R. W. Gardner, trolling, caught three nice fish. All fish being caught are in fine condition, the result being that the sport is an improvement on what it was at the beginning of the season. , -- Fishing is being well pursued by tha numerous fishermen at present at Taupe, and the rainbow fishing is now well established, as some fine catches have been made. Mr. J. Mcßae, fishing irT the Waitahanui, caught the record rainbow trout of the season, weighing a trifle over 201b; it was a magnificent specimen, and the fortunate fisher has sent it away to be mounted. Messrs. Adeane, Webster, Thorniewell, and Rev. Rercival are also getting good catches in the Tongariro River, the fish averaging about 91b. Messrs. Logan, Nairn, and party are fishing at the Rangitaiki River and getting good sport.
