LICENSING BILL.
o QUESTION OF TIME LIMIT. By Telegraph.—Press Association.— (Received March 13, 11.55 p.m.) London, March 18. The Central Council of the Church of England Temperance Society, presided over by the Archbishop of Canterbury (Dr. Davidson) and attended by many Bishops, endorsed the Licensing Bill and undertook to support an extension of the time limit, if 14 years was found to be insufficient, to prevent an unreasonable strain on the trade. The Times says that while, the Government is willing to materially extend the statutory period, the opposition appear to be determined tc resist the Bill to the utmost.
