PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT.
AN AUSTRALIAN INVITATION. VISIT OF THE FLEET. • By Telegraph.—Press Association.Copyright, (Received March 19, 1 a.m.) Melbourne, March 18. Th? suggestion is mooted in Australia to invito President Roosevelt to accompany the United States fleet on its visit to the Commonwealth. Senator Best, replying in the Senate this afternoon to a question, said it would be most unusual for the President to leave the United States, and he feared it would be useless to invite him to visit Australia. As to some of the British fleet being represented, the invitation to the American fleet was forwarded through the Imperial authorities, and no doubt they would recognise the full importance of the matter.
