NATIVE LANDS COMMISSION.
The Native land Commissioners (Sir Robert Stout, Chief Justice, and Mr. A. T. Ngata, M.P.) have completed their investigation into the position of, the lands held try the Ngatifangitihi tribe, east of Ro-' torua. The natives, it is skated, are prepared to sell and lease to the Government some 12,000 to 14,000 acres, much of which is good land. The Commissioners were unable to finish their labours in the district, owing to a number of the blocks not having yet been dealt with by the Native Land Court, and will return to Rotorua subsequently. In the meantime an interim report has been sent in to the Government.
The Commissioners will leave Auckland on Saturday for Dargaville, where they will spend two days in inquiring into the position of lands there. Afterwards they will proceed to Helensville, returning to Auckland on Saturday, the 28th inst. The Commissioners will then pay visits to Whangarei and the Bay of Islands. '
