i [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wairoa (H. 8.), Wednesday. ■A loaded dray capsized on top of the driver (Thomas Dillon) at Turiroa to-day. Dillon's son, in trying to extricate his father, had a thigh broken. The elder man died in the hospital shortly after his arrival. DtiNKDtv, Weday. A conference between- members of the Harbour Board and the Dock Trust unanimously affirmed the principle of the absorption of the trust, by the Board. Legislation to this end will probably be introduced next session. Mr. John Smart, of Clyde, wiil contest, the Tuapcka seat, in the Opposition interest. Wellington*, Wednesday. George Reid, a married man, 39 years oi age, fell down a stairway while working at his trade its a plumber at Newtown to-day. He is now in the hospital, being treated for severe injury to the spine. The Minister for Education has declined to receive a deputation seeking portion of the Mount Cook reserve, Wellington, as a site for a technical school. Mr. Fowlds explains that the matter has already been threshed out, and the position has not changed since the last time a representative of the Ministry was seen, on the matter. The negotiations with regard to securing Mr. Strong's house at Palrnerston North as a residence for the Governor while Government House is being used for Parliamentary purposes have not so far been successful. It is understood that the house i* not large enough for the purpose. CuitiSTCHTJRCH, Wednesday. At a meeting of delegates from the Christchurch, Ashburton, ami Kaikorai bands held this evening, it was decided to form a South Island Brass Bands Association with headquarters at Christ-church.
