CLOSER SETTLEMENT.
TO" [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] OAMARU,0 AMARU, Tuesday. At the request of the Minister for rides, Teschemakor's Kauroo Estate has been placed under offer to the Government for closer settlement. The acreage of freehold is approximately 19,113 acres, and in addition there are 750 acres of Crown land and 600 acres held from the School Commissioners. The property has already been subdivided into seven farms, ranging from 800 to 5000 acres. Gisborne, Tuesday. Much interest is being shown in the approaching ballot for subdivisions in the Te Arai Estate, lately acquired by the Government, and a considerable number of people have visited the property. It is expected that there will bo a. big rush of applicants for the various sections.
