m THE PLUNKET SHIELD MATCH. I I [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] Christchurch, Tuesday. At the New Zealand Cricket Council's j meeting to-night a letter was received from J the Auckland Association accepting Otago's ! challenge for the Plunket shield match, and j it was resolved to invite Otago to play the I match during the Christmas holidays, so that the New Year holidays will be available for a possible second match should Otago be successful. ' The council resolved to arrange for an overdraft of £100, in order to repay the guarantors of the English tour. It was also decided to endeavour to arrange the visit of a. New South Wales team next season, it being understood that a good team would tour the Dominion at no expense to the associations or the council beyond bare travelling expenses, the council taking all gate money. The offer of Mr. E. H. Williams, of Napier, for a school shield for competition among the public schools was accepted. It was resolved to write to the Marylebone Club for an interpretation of the now qualification ride, and its application to New Zealand cricket.
