Wellington, Tuesday. The following further particulars of the re- • 'search scholarships which the Cabinet has decided to establish will be of interest: — There are to be four scholarships, one for each of the University Colleges. Each scholarship will be of the annual value of £100, in addition to college laboratory fees, and the cost of special books and special purchases. The tenure of each scholarship will be two years, with a possible extension to a third year on the recommendation of the special board. This special board (which will select the candidate and supervise his work) will consist of the professor of science of the University College to which the candidate belongs, a representative of the Department of Education, and a person skilled in the special branch of industry accepted for that research. The whole time of the student during the term of the scholarships is to be given to the j
research undertaken. Xo one is to be eligible for the ,eclioiiutthip unless he is the holder of a bachelor of science degree, or the holder of a bachelor of arts degree, and who has passed the degree examination in science. The results of the research are to be the property of the State/
