PIGS CAUSE A FIRE.

A I'lBE occurred last week at the farm of T. Tobin, Winslow (Victoria), under singular circumstances. Harvesting operations were in progress, and while carting in the hay one of the hands dropped a box of wax vestas out of his pocket Pigs were subsequently turned into the paddock, and just as threshing operations were being concluded an alarm of fire wa3 raised. There were fortunately about a score of men on the property at the time. Flames and smoke were seen making rapid progress from the spot which the pigs had just occupied. The fire was subdued, and on a search being made at the starting point a scorched matchbox was found, full of halfburnt matches. There were teeth marks on the box, and it was evident that one of the pigs had bitten it, causing it to explode.
