EGG-LAYING COMPETITION.
[from OCR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Cambridge, Wednesday. The 4.oth week of the competition promoted by the North Island Egg-laying Competition Association, Ltd., concluded on Friday last. The number of .eggs laid during the. week was 1691, the total number laid since May 1 being 69,547. The monthly prize of £1 Is for the most eggs laid during the month of January was won by Mrs. Rathbone's pen of white Leghorns, with a total of 138 eggs. The highest layings for the week follow: — Auckland A. and P. Association (white Leghorns), 33 j Mrs. J. Salt (white Leghorns), 30; T. B. Brookes (white Leghorns), 29; Co-operative Egg and Poultry Co. (white Leghorns), 29; T. Rathbon (white Leghorns), 28; Mrs. Harrison (white Leghorns), 28; S. H. Scott (white Leghorns), 28; K. W. K. Fairclough (white Leghorns), 28; W. Knight (white Leghorns), 28; W. Runciman (brown Leghorns), 28. The leading pens to date are:—Mrs. Harrison (white Leghorns), 1054; K. W, K. Fairclough (black Orpingtons), 1044; T. B. Brookes (white Leghorns), 1043; E. J. Williamson (white Leghorns), 1032; A. and P. Association (white Leghorns), 1025; Mrs. Bostock (brown Leghorns), 1017; Mrs. Rathbon (white Leghorns), 1004; Mrs. Goodwin (white Leghorns), 1003; Miss Blackmore (white Leghorns), 993; Miss Roberts (white Leghorns), 991.
