With reference to the. resignation of Mr. Coutts from his position as inspector of mines at Auckland, the Hon. J. McGowan (Minister for Mines) states that it is intended to appoint two inspectors of equal rank for the North Island. '1 his scheme entails the abolition of itic office of assistantinspector of mined. Mr. Boyd Bonnie, who lias been discharging the latter duties, will be one of the new inspectors, and the selection of his colleague will be decided upon shortly. .
