ANNIVERSARY REGATTA

THE PROGRAMME ARRANGED. A meeting of the committee of tho Anniversary Regatta -was held in the club rooms, Queen-street, yesterday afternoon, Mr. T. T. Masefield presiding. It was announced that the New Zealand Shipping Company had consented to place their fine steamer Waimato at tho disposal of the committee to act as flagship on regatta day. Tho Marino Department wrote stating that tho training-ship Amokura would be in the Waitemata on regatta day. A subsequent telegram, • however, stated that owing to the majority of the' boys being away on holiday leave, and not being timed to join the ship until January 28, it would.be impossible for her to be present at tho regatta. Tho owners of 15 boats of 24ft, tuck stern class, asked for tho first prize in tho raco to be increased to £10. It was deoided to reply stating that if the entries were tho samo as in race 14- tho prize would -be increased as requested. Mr. John Clark was appointed starter and umpire of tho rowing races, Mr. A. Thompson judge of the sailing races, Mr. L. Benjamin judge of the rowing races, and Mr. H. deal handioapper of tho sculling outrigger races. Tho chairman expressed the hope that tho committee would work energetically during the next few days in obtaining funds so that the regatta could be earned out as successfully as usual. Tho following is the programme as arranged definitely: — Trading Vessels. All-comers, any rig, excepting cutters 20 tons register and upwards. Trading Cutters. All-comers, handicap. Open Handicap Yacht Raco (first-class). Pishing Boats (first-class), handicap. Maiden Fours (lOst and under). Bona-fido Cruising Yachts, handicap. Not exceeding 30ft 1.w.1. Half-decked Centreboard Yachts, 26ft overall and under, tuck stern, handicap. Yachts, not exceeding 25ft 1.w.1., handicap. Maiden Fours (open). Fishing Boats, handicap. Sails and motor, 5-h.p. and under. Yachts not exceeding 25ft overall (keel), excluding yachts eligible for race 6. Decked or Half-decked Yachts, above -riOft and not exceeding 22ft overall and under; bona-fido mullet stamp only. Motor Launches, open handicap; over 7 knots and under If) knots.
