WELLINGTON RACING CLUB
SUMMER MEETING.
TRENTHAM TRAINING .NOTES. [BT TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION"-1
Wellington, Wednesday.
There was nothing sensational about this morning's training operations at Trentham, and, beyond a couple of fair gallops by Marguerite and Kuravraka, the majority ot the horses were restricted to half and threequarter pace work. De Witte shaped well over a mile, which was covered in lm. 535. Clanchattan and Red Rain, who were fit, were half-paced over a- circuit. Marguerite reeled off eight furlongs in a tick over l.m. 475., Kurawaka taking a second longer over the same task. Gold Crest strode freely once round, covering the last two furlotigs in 28s. Petticoat and Moata covered a mile in lni. 555. The hard state of the ground is making trainers cautious with their charges.
[by telegraph.— correspondent.] Wellington, Wednesday.
Mr. Good, owner of Maniapoto, the Wellington Cup favourite, received a telegram from his trainer this morning that the horse pulled up sore after a gallop. Maniapoto is to he brought, to Trentham, but is considered to be an unlikely starter in the Gup. • -
