MOUNT ROSKILL ROAD BOARD.

•* The monthly mooting of the Mount Roskill Road Board was hold last evening, when there were present-: Messrs. Chas. Bagley (in the chair), T. E. Hayr, G. Winstone, E. J. Hird, J. Ambury, J. Haslett, and C. Worrall. Finance: The clerk announced various accounts to lie in credit as follows:—General, £227 17s; water, £27 5s lOd ; gas, £25 10s 9d; interest, £60 18s 6d. Accounts amounting to £153 19s 7d wore submitted for payment. Condolences: On the motion of the chairman it was decided to forward 'a resolution, of sympathy to Mr. T. Harrison on the loss of his wife, one of the last four or five of the pioneers of the district. Half-holiday: , It was resolved that the half-holiday for tho district be fixed as usual on Wednesday. Shelter Shed: Tho architect, reported that the new -shelter shed was completed at Greenwood's Corner, and forwarded certificate for the contractor's amount of £63. Account passed for payment. In connection with the shed Messrs. Francis Hull and Jas. Buddie wrote complimenting the Board on the erection of same, as it was not. only of great service, but an ornament to the locality. Onehunga Police: Sergeant Twomey, of the Onehunga police, wrote acknowledging copy of Mr. Edwin Hall's letter through the Board, and stating that every attention possible would be given to misohiofmakers and starters of fires at Hillsboro' and the Bluff. On the motion of the chairman it was decided to' thank and congratulate the Onehunga police on their prompt action in •bringing to hook the delinquents who recently deposited the carcase of a horse contiguous to several dairies in the district. Dog Registration: It was decided, to appoint Mr. T. F. Booth as dog- registrar and collector, the fees to 2s 6d for each cattle or sheep dog, and 5s for others. Transfer of Licenses: The chairman moved, in terms of his notice of motion, That the Board, by arrangement, with the holder of a license for heavy vehicular traffic, will agree to transfer such license! on payment of a transfer fee of £1, such transfer to be subject to tho approval of all parties interested." This was seconded by Mr. Hird and carried.

Waikowhai Reserve: If. was announced that, the Methodist Mission 'Trust -would meet this morning to confirm the steps already taken with regard to the new reserve at- Wailcowhai Bay. It was resolved that tlio chairman and Mr. Haslett should meet the Rev. Simmonds in regard to the fixing of the boundaries. Ratepayers' Meeting : The chairman stated that a meeting of ratepayers interested in the Ridge Road proposed loan would 'bo held shortly. If carried, the loan would be the means of opening up at least another mile of the district.

The Pit: It was reported that Mr. A. Higgins would be willing to cart away a largo amount of debris from .the Board's pit, on condition that he was granted a right-of-way to his own pit in return. On the motion of the chairman it was agreed that the whole Board meet- Mr. Higgins at the pit next Monday to discuss the proposal. Roads and Paths: Mr. Bagley reported that most of the surface work decided upon, including footpaths, had ■ been completed. It was then decided to finish the footpath near the gasworks and that near the Congregational Church. Dealing with roads, it was resolved to attend to lower Pah Road and widen the path near the Roal Oak approach. On Mr. Hird's suggestion the next road placed on the list for improvement was Hillsboro' Road, after which Three Kings Road will receive attention. Domain Reserve: No tenders were received for the leasing of the Domain reserve, and Messrs. Bagley, Haslett, and Hird were appointed a committee to deal with the matter.
