LICENSING OF BOOKMAKERS.
OBJECTION TO RESTRICTIONS. [BY TELEGRAPH. ASSOCIATION.] Palmerston Nortlj, Wednesday. The Manawatu Daily Times states that a number of bookmakers have applied to the Manawatu Racing Club lor licenses for the forthcoming meeting, and that these licenses being granted one of the bookmakers will pay the necessary fees in order to object to the regulations, particularly those requiring them to remain within an enclosure and closing them down for five minutes before a, race. Should the club insist on the regulations being observed it is the intention of the bookmakers to bring a case before the Supreme Court. Mr. Wilford, on behalf of the bookmakers, has t written to the Manawatu Club denying that the Act gives power to restrict those who may be licensed in the manner. prop-pawL
