SCRIPTURE GIFT SCHOOL.
Testerday afternoon the Scripture Gift School, in Franklin Road, was felosed for the holidays, with the usual presentation of prizes and awards kindly provided by the Scripture Gift Association and friends. The Rev. Mr. Clements presided, and the Rev. R. L. Walker, BffA., of Sk James' Church, presented the prizes, and gave A brief address to the children. A very bright programme of hymns and recitations was rendered by the children, reflecting credit on their teacher, Miss R. Clark. The parents of the children were present in good numbers. CHAPEL-STREET PUBLIC SCHOOL. Tho annual " breaking-up" .of the Chapelstreet public school took place yesterday, when at the invitation of Mr. Alfred Kidd, M.P., the scholars were conveyed to the Outer Domain in tramcars, where a programme of gajpes, races, etc., was gone through. Amongst those present, besides Mr. and Mrs. Kidd, were Mr. P. M. Mack ay (chairman of the City Schools Committee), and Mrs. Mackay, Mr. Draffln (headmaster), and other*. At the termination of the gathering, cheers were given by those present for Mr. Kidd.
