Pakkoa, Monday. At the Paeroa Police Court this morning A. Montgomery was fined ss, and 7s costs, for driving at night without lights, and W. Moore was fined ss, and 7s costs, for assaulting W; Dickey. For failing to send their children to school the required number of times, R. Casley was fined 3s, and 10s 6d costs; D. Snodgrass, ss, and 10s 6d costs; and T. Rowley, 2s, and 10s 6d costs. A charge against P. Brenan of allowing a horse to be worked while suffering from sore shoulders was dismissed.

A young man named Climo, employed as an engine-driver at the dairy factory at Paeroa, was severely scalded yesterday by the upsetting of a bucket of water, 'with which some cleaning was being done. ' He was attended to by Dr. Smith, Mr. G. Booker, of the Post and Telegraph Department, who has been transferred from Paeroa to Auckland, was presented with a gold albert by the staff of the Paerosj Pest Office. He was also entertained by the No. 1 Ohinemuri Rifles, of which he has be-e'i a member, and was presented with a handsome travelling bag.
