FIRST WOOL SALE.
SOME GOOD CATALOGUES OFFERING.
The first, wool sale of the season, under the auspices of the Auckland Woolbrokers' Association, will be held at the Chamber of Commerce to-morrow, commencing at nine a.m. The firms who will submit lots will be the Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., Messrs. A. Buckland and Sons, Q. W. Binney and Sons, C. B. Kingswell and Co., and the Auckland Farmers' Union. Messrs. BnckL\nd will offer a total of 1400 bales, Messrs. Binney 434 bales, the Auckland Farmers' Union 320 bales, and Messrs. Kingswell and Co. 104 bales. Sixty bales, consigned to the Farmers' Union, arrived too late to be catalogued. The Loan and Mercantile Company's catalogue will not be finally made up till to-day, but it is expected that it will comprise a big lot. A great deal of wool has come forward by the various steamers arriving from the Northern and East Coast ports during the past two or three days, in addition to large consignments that have been received by rail. . The total quantity thus coming forward will be considerable.
The quality of the wool, so far as already opened, is of a very good standard. The fleeces are much lighter in grease this year than last year, this fact being attributable to the heavy rains experienced'during the early spring.
