PARNELL TEMPERA NCE LEAGUE.
Tub annual .meeting of the Paniell Electorate Temperance League was held in the Methodist Church, Newmarket, .last evening. The Rev. W. IX. Tuck, 1.5.A., presided, and there was a good attendance. The annual report showed that during the year systematic work had been done, and the organiser had vi«ited every house in the district enrolling "friend and foe." The receipts, amounted to £34 Ox 6tl and the expenditure to £35 lis Id. Messrs. .1. Trounson and It. French, who attended the recent temperance conference in Wellington, gave a summary of the work which had been done. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:— President, Mr. 0. O. Hill; vice-presidents, the Rev O. 15. Monro and .Messrs. Howard, Thomas, and R. French; treasurer, Mr. Caleb Wood; secretary, Mr. .U. W. L. Robinson. During the evening" songs were rendered by Mrs. W. Smith and Mr. W. 11. Thomas. •
