ALLEGED FORGERY AND THEFT

Chbistckubch, Thursday. Cecil James Waxes, Harry Cox, Thomas Cox, and John Dowtiie Stewart were charged before Mr. Day, S.M., to-day, with the forgery of three cheques on the Bank of New Zealand at Timaru, purporting to be signed by R. 0. Tate. The cheques amounted respectively to £6 2s 6d, £5 12s, and £7 1&. The prisoners were remanded till Tuesday. Wates and Thomas Cox were remanded [ till Tuesday on the further charge of the theft of a portmanteau at Timaru.
