AN OPPONENT OF CRAM.

"TOO MUCH GOVERNMENT PAP."

[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN* CORRESPONDENT-]

Gisborne, Wednesday. "There is 100 much of this pumping of Government pap into the mouths of our youths. They get, too inflated to take their coals off to help in the development of the country." So said Mr. Whinray, at the Borough Council meeting last night, when referring to, the. vote for technical education in agriculture. "There is too much of this education. It is all cram, cram, cram." He admitted he might be behind the times in this matter. '

Mr. Williams held that they could not have too much education ; but from reports in.the papers it seemed the facilities were not being fully availed of, and he asked if it was wise to give more money until better use was made of present facilities.

Mr. Sheridan said that was not the fault of the management, and they would be doing their duty in providing the means. Mr. Somervell made a splendid advocacy of technical education, carrying the councillors with him, and the vote asked for (£2O) was granted without further demur.
