BANK OF NEW ZEALAND.
MR. MACINTOSH AND THE DIRECTORS. AN INQUIRY ASKED FOR. [BY IIiLEUIt-mi. —SPECIAL COKKESI'O.VDKNT.] Wellington, Tuesday. .Mr. Alexander. Macintosh, formerly general.manager of the Bank of New Zealand, is petitioning Parliament, churning £1482 salary, payable to him as chief .auditor of the Bank of New Zealand. He points out that against his own wish he was compelled to discharge the duties of auditor (while also acting as general manager) between June 22, 1905, and April 16, 1904, because the then Colonial Treasurer (Sir. Seddon) refused to accept his resignation as auditor. The petitioner states that he continued to act as general manager of the bank till March 31, 1906, on which date, because of differences which had arisen between himself' and the directors of the said bank, he felt, compelled in his own interests to relinquish the position.
In addition to the request in regard to salary earned, but not paid, Mr. Macintosh also asks (hat the House will, in the interests of the Bunk of New Zealand and of the colony, be pleased to direct that an inquiry be held into the circumstances which led to the retirement of petitioner from the service of the bank. Mr. Macintosh is now manager of the Government Savings Bank of New South Wales. His petition was presented by Mr. Ailken, M.11.K.
