AUCKLAND BUSTERS' ASSOCTAJ . .-. 'HON. ■ . ■ The monthly meeting of th© Auckland' J Ministers' Association was held yesterday, ! afternoon in the Rev. W. S. Potter's parsonage, Wakefield-street. There was a largo attendance. The Rev. J. Wilkins (president) occupied the chair. In answer to a request, front the Council of. Christian, Churches, Duncdin, it was resolved to unite with them in forwarding a resolution to the members of the House of Reproson[tativft? asking for an amendment of tho Gambling Acts—amongst other item*, tho abolition of license, of the totalizator, the exclusion of betting . odd* from the newspaper?, and the prevention of circulars regarding gambling and State lotteries from parsing through tho Post Office. Letters from the Revs. A. .North and Win. Day were remitted to subcommittees to inquire into and report. Th« monthly report, of work at the Sailors - Mission Hall was received. The Rev. W. Gray Dixon, M.A., sent an interesting letter, "giving a, full report of his reception by the Council of the British and Foreign Sailors' Society. He was cordially received, and the following resolution was carried: '•That in the event of the Auckland Ministers' Association employing a missionary to labour amongst sailors in the port of Auckland; under their supervision, tho British and Foreign Society shall make an annual grant in aid to the extent of £25. on the understanding that the Auckland branch be affiliated to the society." Mr, Dixon also took part at, the annual meeting of tho society at the Mansion House. A committee was appointed to obtain the amount needed for the support of a sailors' missionary. It was resolved that the "annual quiet day " bo held on October 28 at Grows, and a com* mitteo was chosen to make- suitable arrangements. " The annual exchange'' of pulpits will take place on the second Sunday in I August. The Rev. ,J. A. Luxford invited the members for tho -August gatherine to meet in the Pitt-street parlour. The Rev. A. N. bcotrer, 8.A., was elected a member of the association. Tho Rev. W. S. anil .Mrs.PPotterr r entertained the members at tea. iho Rev. Lewis Ingram, from Melbourne, was present as a visitor.

Arrangements wore- made for a vigorous campaign, and the branch intends to take every opportunity of imoressing upon the Government the advisability or constructing a railway from Waiuku through Mauku and Patumahoo, to connect with the main line. Socials will be hold at frequent intervals, the first on tho 25th inst., tho intention being to keep tho branch' hi » vigorous and flourishing condition.

MOUNT ALBERT ROAD BOARD, A meeting of 'the Mount Albert Road Board was held last, evening, and, was at« tended by Messrs. Murdoch McLean (chairI man), M. J. Ooylo, J. Stanton, J. It-Wal-'" tors, and F. Ellisdon. Street Lamps: On the recommendation Of the Lighting Committee, it was decided to erect 18 additional lamps in the district, | to lie located in tho following places:-— Kingsland Road (4), New North Road (3), Aitken Terrace, Buchanan-street, Jung-street, Reimer's Avenue, .Edond&le Road. Salisbury ' Road, Burnley Terrace, Commercial ' Road, Allandalo Road, Mountain Road, and Emma-street. It was also decided to alter the lamp at the corner of Kingsland Road, so as to shed its light on tho tramway terminus. Tho tender of the Auckland Gas Company for the erection of the lamps at £4 7s 6d per lamp was accepted. Water Service: Mr. Coylo moved, "That a memorial bo presented to the Hon. Minister in Charge of Hospitals and Asylums, asking that the chargo of £150 per annum levied by, tho Department-upon the Board, as royalty upon the water drawn from tho springs at the ■■.Auckland Mental Hospital at Avondale for the suonly of water to the inhabitants of tho Mount Albert Road district, be abolished as from July 21, 1907." Mr. Coylo said that the drawing of water from tho springs did not deprive the Government of the water which it required for its own use, as the supply was ample for both. Ho also pointed out that, although the traffic on the roads by the Mental Hospital was very considerable, the Board received no rates therefrom, nor from tho large amount of property owned: by tho Government, in the neighbourhood. Mr. Ellisdon seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. Rates: The Chairman moved, "That tho following rates be struck as from August: s:—General rate, ijd in the £; hospital and charitable aid rate, l-6d in the £; special lighting rate 1-fxl in the £: drainage, l-6d in the £; and main road, l-20d in the £." The motion was carried.
