KILLED BY A FALL OF COAL.
INQUEST AT PAPAKURA.
An "inquest was held at the Papakura S.Mi Court, on Saturday, ;by Mr. Duncan Mcrennan, J.P., on the body of John Coulter, ,rho was accidentally killed at the Drury goal mine on'the 31st ult. , The evidence showed that deceased was netting coal in the mine, his eon being near fcini filling * trll,:k ' wlien sudden b r about lOcwt or I2cwt of .coal- and shale fell and partly buried him. His son got him out, and he was removed from the mine, but expired on the way to the Drury railway station. Dr. Reekie was sent for but could only pronounce life extinct. Deceased's spine and thigh were broken, and he was injured internally.. " The,jury returned a verdict of " Accidental death," no blame being attachable to anyone.. Mr.;CoatesJ inspector of mince, attended the inquest. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon, the Rev. J. B. Smellie officiating. A large number of people, including all the employees of the Drury mine, attended.
