POLICE COURT NEWS.
ALLEGED THEFT OF MONEY.
At the Police Court yesterday, before Messrs. H. A. Condon and F. J.H. Eliisdon, J.P.'s, a young man, Edward John Mallett, who had been arrested by Constable Eccles, of. Devonport, was charged with stealing 4s 6d, Is 3d, and ■ 20s respectively, the' moneys of Bertie Cross, Ernest Cross, and Wm. Statilham. : '-r.-:': •'„■ Accused pleaded guilty to the first two charges, arid not guilty to the third. ,; ; Sergeant Hendry applied for a, week's remand, stating that it would be necessary to bring witnesses from Dairy Flat. Mallett raised no objection to the remand,.which was granted. , r . f , DRUNKENNESS.- ', - : "" '*'-'.' Two first offenders were 'each fined 5s and costs, or, in default, 24 hours' imprisonment for drunkenness. 5 -„
