Two young men, Henry Walter LHley and Thomas Moody, were charged this morning, at the Magistrate's Court, on five informations of burglary, and were remanded to May 29. As far as can be ascertained, 14 houses in all parts of the city received their attention. One of the men said that he committed the burglaries because he could get no work. •
. . DusiDis, Fiiday. Robert Douglas, a single man, 69 years of age, died in the hospital this morning as the result of injuries received on Tuesday. He was loading a dray at the Roslyn reservoir, when he was knocked down, and the dray passed over him. .-.,:•, . In the ballot for sections on the small settlement at Kurow yesterday afternoon there were 57 applicants for 13 sections, ranging from 11 to 41 acres. With one exception tho successful applicants are resident in the district; ■■ *
