THE CONFERENCE.
THE GOVERNOR ON PLAIN
SPEAKING.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.]
Wellington, Friday. * ; Referring to the Imperial Conference 'this morning, the Governor (Lord Plunket) repeated his recent announcement that, when dealing with matters of such importance, progress must necessarily be slow. There had been mention of ; "plain . speaking." One of the advantages he had enjoyed in being a member of a large family was that the family circle was one place where he always heard the truth. "I consider," he concluded, "that the plain speaking at the Conference shows that we know and understand ourselves to be one family. Among ourselves we can speak as brother to brother." 'V ■ ' """ '
