A DRAINAGE DIFFICULTY.
[BY telegraph.—press : association.] - Palmerston North, Thursday. Through finding. the manhole connection in the recently-constructed 18in sewers full of water, the borough authorities made the discovery that the pipes for some distance were fractured. The sewer was opened up to-day,' and the pipes were found practically. in pieces. The extent of the damage has not yet been ascertained. The sewer pipes will bo taken up until all faulty pipes have betfn replaced. No satisfactory reason has yet been advanced for the collapse. ■■
