The Japanese journals deny that Japan displays discrimination regarding trading opportunities in Manchuria, and say that she is trying to induce China to organise efficient machinery to check the abuse of trade marks.
The Japanese say that the . traders of other nations are free to trade in Manchuria, but the railways a,re owed by a Japanese company, in which the Government owns more thai! half the shares, and rebates up to 50 per cent, - are made in the rates in favour of Japanese merchandise. As to the trade-marks dispute, it is not clear to what it refers, but some time ago it was reported in Australia tnat American flour landed in Chinese ports was being put into bags bearing Australian trade-marks.
