LOST IN THE BUSH.
GIRL'S TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Miss Annie Mcßougall, a young lady 20 years' of: age, left the bouse of her uncle, in: the Awaroa portion of the Glenmurray district, ; where she was residing, last Thursday night, and failed to return. '-. As she was accompanied by a young dog it was thoughtt that, unless an accident had J occurred, the animal would have been able to guide her to her home, which she had left without a hat, and clad in her ordinary indoor garments, one of which was a light blouse. Search parties sent out on Friday failed to find traces of the wanderer, and the news was communicated to Constable Rock, of Huntly, late the same .evening.' I Responding to the urgent call, the con- ( stable immediately proceeded to the Awa,roa., and arrived there at daybreak on Saturday, morning. : Heading another search party, he had the country thoroughly scoured, with the result that Mis6:McDougall was ; found, j bedraggled, - hungry, arid almost demented, two miles from home. Without loss of time she was taken home, but was unable to explain how, she came to wander, so - far away, or how she crossed the Awaroa, a creek„ which is '■ fairly wide and rather deep. t • ■ , A MISSING SPORTSMAN.:.
