WHANGAREI COUNTY COUNCIL

- [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Whangarei, Saturday. The monthly meeting of the Whangarei County Council waa held yesterday afternoon. 'Hie Crown Lands Board reported that "halves" amounting to £46 17a 4d were due to the Council for expenditure. The district health officer reported a case of enteric fever -it Waro. - It was decided to take the customary precautions.' •.f ».;••' • * The Hobson County engineer forwarded a plan of part of the boundary to be altered between the two counties for the names of propertvowners to be died in, In order to assist him In laying out the road*.. The Mangakahia Road Board objected to iho proposed alteration of boundaries on tho ground that it would affect their Road Board district. The Otamarea County Council wrote in regard to the conference which will be held towards the end of this month, and invited two members of the Whangarei Council to be present. It was resolved that Means. J lay ward and fiit.vcb be the delegates to represent the Whangarei County. It wa3 resolved that the Government be requested to appoint a committee to apportion the coot (to be borne by the Council, the Maunu Road Board, and the Man gal; ah Road Board) of the maintenance of the airua and Maugakaliia bridges. ' The following tenders were accepted: Waipu Riding: 40 chains of side cutting, A. Carter (£l9). Mangapai Riding: 40 chains of side cutting, A. Carter (£47); Kauri Hill deviation block, cutting and side cutting, T. . Sands (£37 6s and 17s a chain respectively). Manaia Hiding: Taiharuru bridge, ..V Stewart (£Bl 10s). Otonjra Riding: Construction of culverts, .1. 8. Foote (£52 10s). It was resolved that tho Government grant of £100 for connecting the Mangakahia and Puma districts by a road be put to immediate use in order to obviate ' the lapse of the vote. Accounts amounting to £400 were passed.
