FIRE BRIGADES' ACT.

• Wellington, Saturday. The following have been elected to represent the local fire insurance companies for Wellington, Palmerston North, and Feilding fire districts on the Fire Brigades' Board constituted under the Act of last session Messrs. F. Allen (Commercial Union), R. M. Simpson (Phoenix), C. A. Ewen (New Zealand). These were the only nominations.
Dcxedin, Saturday. < The burgesses of the Borough of .Law-, rence declared, by 61 votes to one, in favour of the borough being created a fire district in terms of the Fire Brigades' Act, 1506.
