Ha traces his descent from a Lord Chief Jus» tice of Ireland -in the- reign of Elizabeth ; . arid his great-grandmother was a French Huguenot refugee. The late Lord Alymer - was a noted agriculturalist, and command* a- battalion of Canadian militia for many years. His son (who succeeded him at the beginning of coronation year) . holds the. appointment of Inspector-General in the same force.
