DYING OF COLD.
, -— ; ' A-r-'r" Me. Fxiank Bemis, of Canonburr, London* is slowly "freezing" to death in Boston, Massachusetts, and physicians arc unable to. save him. The- whole American medical world if interested. in the case, but so far doctors i arc unable to alleviate the sufferings of their unfortunate patient. Every contrivance for heating the body has been tested j without avail. Mr. Bemis is a commercial traveller for j a New York furnishing firm, and according to his own statement was born in Canon' bury, London. He resided "in Unitali, Mashonaland, for some time, and white , there contracted malarial fever, which left, him in a weakened condition. He hat; lift" in the United States for six years. * The strange disease appears to have been creeping on its victim for some time. His friends state that even'in the hottest day* of summer he is obliged to wear five suits of underclothing, a heavy overcoat, a large pair of boots, and several pairs of socks. He sleeps under eight blankets, a number of : quilts, and does not take off bis clothes. While at home his gas bill is in the neighbourhood of £10 a month. He ha* four large gas stoves going all day.
