During the month of April the Talisman Consolidated Gold Mining Company, Limited, crushed and treated 4136 tons s of ore for a return of bullion valued at £11,345. Work here has been discontinued for the present and 'driving to the : west started, and: wo should meet the ; Junction of the , various leaders , passed through in:.the crosscut. The second crosscut at ■ No. 2 ' 'evel is in • a distance of ,25ft from the hanging-wall drive. . The clean footwall country has not vet been reached, the last 4ft of driving done being in a mixture of quartz stringers and country rock. No. 3 level, has been advanced • 12ft, making the total distance from the surface 109 f- A small quartz vein has crossed the drive "and: the country at the back of it is of a milder nature than that previously passed ; through. The reef continues to look well and contains a good deal of sulphides and colours of gold can be seen freely in breaking down. . The stone ; has. a ' kindly appearance, showing favourable minerals. : -To push forward the work two shifts will be .em- ; P Watchman - (May . 4): The level towards, the r Windfall reef has been extended 10ft, but 1 nave found it necessary, on a survey being made, ;to ' turn off from the reef we have been driving on. i There is a further distance of about 130 ft to intersect the reef. The surface level opening out the hangingwall portion of the reef has been in progress, good dish prospects being obtained. A trial pared from this level will be treated nest Wednesday (yesterday). ,
