It was decided '■■ to start . the •: cup matches on ■ Saturday next, when senior, second grade, and third grade matches will be ployed between the representatives of the j Waitete and Mataura Clubs. - The games will be played on the Tauranga Bridge ground. The chairman reported that there was every likelihood of the Recreation Ground being placed at the disposal of the union for certain of the matches ;on more favourable terms than iu past seasons. Mr. R. Harris was appointed sole selector of the junior representative teams for the coming season.. ■' " * WAIHI REFEREES' ASSOCIATION. [BY TELEGRAPH CORRESPONDENT.] Waihi, Wednesday. ' The Waihi Football Referees' Association met last evening. Mr. Garvey was elected chairman and Mr. Peacock secretary for the Incoming year. An examining Committee, consisting of Messrs. Garvey and McWhirtcr.V: was' appointed, and Messrs. Garvey, Harris, and Moore were respectively appointed to acl as referees in next Saturfirst, -second, and third grade cup competition matches. ~ NEW ZEALAND RUGBY UNION. - • [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Wednesday. At a meeting of the New Zealand Rugbv Union the North v. South Island match was fixed for June 3, to bo played at Christchuroh. The selection of the team to visit , Australia is to be made immediately after this fixture. It was decided to advertise for a secretary.
