Tenders for road works were dealt with as follows: -rCrosbie's Road D. Donnelly, £52; ; Crosbie, £53; W. T. Terrell, £49 10s (accepted). Moanataiari Creek Road: Williams and party, £47 10a; Windsor and party, £47 C. Boxall, £42; Barrich, £40; H. ; Henderson, £39 15s; H McQuinn, £34 (accepted). Ohio Creek Road: T.Godkih, £31 10s; A. Fisher, £23 10s; ,C. Boxall, £29 (accepted); Hikutaia station to new'road:" E. W. Chaytor, £60 P. McConnell, £55 (accepted). The secretary of- the -Scandinavian. Company wrote respecting a track to the company's mine, and asking-what proportion of ; the cost the company'was required-to pro- : vide. It 'was resolved., "That the Council provide half the cost, such half not to exceed £20. A number of letters and petitions were read from residents in the county drawing attention. to the bad state ef the roads and drains, which; were referred to the engineer. [ A. petition was received from tho settlers ! of Upper Tairua,;, pointing out the, serious I disabilities arising from the defective postal service in that district, asking for the I assistance of the Council in effecting an imI provement. : It was resolved to forward it on to the chief postmaster at Thames with a" strong recommendation from the Council that the application be acceded to. .','',•'
