London, April 3. The London Daily Express says that the Imperial Government has spurned Australia's offer of preference in order to prevent the Imperial Conference coming to a decision adverse to British policy.
In an interview. Sir William Lyne said he would abstain from reference to controversial British politics, but explained that the Commonwealth Parliament was practically unanimous in favour of preference to the Motherland. Tin; matter had been left in suspense owing to the Imperial Government's belief that Australia's action would interfere with the treaty rights of foreign nations.
