Dr. fat-on was born at Kirkmanhoe, near Dumfries, on May 28, 824. He was a city missionary in Glasgow for ten years, and was then ordained, and sailed for the New Hebrides in 1858. He. laboured among the natives. until failing health from old age compelled his retirement'. "

Wkli.isgton, Monday. News has been received of the death at Cairo of .Mr. Kenneth Lindsay McLean, a grandson of the late Dr. Patrick Henderson, and nephew of. Mr. W. W. Henderson, of Wellington. Mr. McLean was in the employ of the firm of Sir Win. Anal and Co., Glasgow, and just before his death was engaged m supervising the construction of a bridge over the Nile at Cairo. A telegram was received in Wellington yesterday, stating that Mr. Fred. Kemley bad died at Duacdin. Deceased was well known in Wanganui and Wellington, having for live years been in charge of Messrs.. George and Kersley's business' at Wanganui. For some time he was one of the leaders of the young men's Bible class at the Presbyterian Church in Wanganui, and was, also a- prominent figure in volunteering circles in the lattei town, being an officer in one of the rifle corps. Ho recently returned to New Zealand from a two years* trip round the work!. On the voyage to this colony he developed pleurisy, but it was not considered serious until after 1>« visited his sister, Mrs. H. S. Gray, near. Dunediu, some two weeks ago, when M oaiurhl ~ ehiil. Pneumonia set in. and re. sulted in his death y«t«-day from an uuSlated attack of heart failure, Deceased was a single man. i ■
