Timari', Saturday. An inquest was hold this morning touching the death of George Newton, a married man, aged 24, who was accidentally shot by his brother, W. Newton, when the two were hare shooting on Thursday last. The jury returned a verdict that death had been caused in a purely accidental way, no blame being attachable to anyone. Hokitika, Saturday. The trustees of the Hokitika Savings Bank have voted £400 as a gift to the Hokitika Free Library now being erected, principally from funds provided by Mr. Carnegie.
