A cokkespcxdent writes: —After tho late flood in the Tongariro River the trout are now in fine order, and some good catches of larger fish arc being made. Mr. Campbell landed a lovely one of 21ilb, and Mr. Jones also secured some varying from 151b to 181b. The Lower Waikato below the rapids is still in a dirty state with pumice, etc., from the flips, but rainbow trout or© still caught there in spite of the state, of the river. Mr. A. B. Wright, and Mr. Fairlie, of the Roads Department, have been to inspect the damage to the Tongariro bridge, and extensive repairs will be needed to make the bridge suitable for traffic again. A new flaxtnill is about to lie erected at Korohe, near Tokaanu, by Messrs. Simmoiids, Smith, and \amrested, to deal with ■ the large area of flax round that part of the I lake.
